University of Utah 1965-1971, B.A. in mathematics; LDS mission 1966-1968, Hong Kong and Philippines; University of Utah School of Medicine 1971-1975, M.D.; married Virginia Lee in 1973; Washington Adventist Hospital 1975-1978, family medicine residency; family medicine practice 1978-1985 in Mount Pleasant, Utah, 1985-2005 Arkansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Arkansas (2nd time), 2005 to 2019 in Casper, Wyoming; returned to Utah in 2019 to start new medical practice emphasizing addiction medicine; 4 times candidate for Congress from Wyoming for Constitution Party (received enough votes each campaign to qualify the Constitution Party as a political party recognized by Wyoming law); candidate for president in 2016 and 2020 seeking nomination of Constitution Party (did not get nomination either time but received 36 write-in votes for president in Arizona in 2020); received 8,889 votes for United States House of Representatives (Utah 3rd district) in 2020 without significant campaigning; was just notified that I passed the certification exam for the American Board of Addiction Medicine, so now I am a very official addiction physician

I recall a hilarious incident in which a fellow class member (I will leave him unnamed since he is In Memory) developed intractable exceedingly loud repeated hiccups occurring very frequently during a class period. He was obviously trying to be polite and control them by holding his breath and other means but without success. I was biting my lips to be polite, trying hard not laugh, as were most of our classmates. Our usually very stern and discipline-oriented teacher understood the situation and compassionately excused him to leave the room until he got over the unpleasant spell. Most of us were still biting our lips to be polite, but when we heard a very loud hiccup echo from the men's room way down the hall, we all lost it.
